Part 2 : Mars Environment

Background of Mars Development

There are three major discoveries of materials behind the development of Mars. First, water that was frozen underground was discovered, increasing the possibility of Mars development, and second, a material capable of blocking ultraviolet rays directly hitting Mars was discovered. Existing ultraviolet rays are almost 50 times that of Earth, making it difficult to live our daily lives, but there is hope that we can block ultraviolet rays, and the development of Mars is progressing rapidly.

And lastly, the Runes were discovered. In particular, runes are special minerals that exist only on Mars and are difficult to explain with the concept of Earth's material. Runes are like stem cells that can be developed into various minerals based on different smelting methods. In the Colony of Mars, runes are used as a previous form of gold coins. Gold coins are coins made of gold with intrinsic value, and runes are also minted in the form of coins and are used on Mars as a means of reward, exchange of values, and storage of value.

Celestial Body of Mars

The sunset of Mars is blue, and not red. The reason is that the atmosphere is so thin that long wavelengths are not scattered during the day and evening, leaving behind the blue color seen at shorter wavelengths. In terms of the celestial body of Mars, it is typically composed of two large and beautiful moons: Phobos and Deimos. Compared to the moon, the two moons are very small, but because they are very close, they are easily seen.

Pressure, Atmosphere, and Time of Mars

The gravity of Mars is 0.376 G, which is about 1/3 of Earth's. However, since gravity is controlled inside the dome, the gravity of 0.8G is maintained.

The atmosphere is made up of carbon dioxide, small amounts of nitrogen and argon, and traces of oxygen. The atmospheric pressure on the surface of Mars is only 0.0063, making it unsuitable for life to breathe. For example, water boils at 27 degrees Celsius, due to its low boiling point.

Because there is little air and no atmosphere, the temperature cannot be locked down remains the average temperature as low as -63 degrees Fahrenheit. The reason Mars does not have an atmosphere is not only because of its weak gravity but also because the core of Mars is less active than that of Earth, and a magnetic field is not formed through rotation.

The rotation period of Mars is about 24 hours and 37 minutes, which is similar to that of Earth. The orbital period is about 687 days, about 1.88 times longer than that of Earth.
